On November 18, 2025, PIN–UP celebrated the release of PIN–UP 39, guest edited by Frida Escobedo, with an intimate Upper East Side gathering, more salon than party. The setting was the very apartment where Escobedo was photographed by Daniel Shea for one of the issue’s covers: a four-bedroom once belonging to Liza Minnelli, and which still flaunts much of its former occupant’s attitude (think track stage lighting, and an excess of mirrors).
Escobedo’s friends and collaborators spread across the four salons with cocktails courtesy of Yola Mezcal, paging through copies of PIN–UP 39. Among the guests were fashion designers Melitta Baumeister and Victor Barragán, artist José León Cerrillo, culinary luminary Jon Gray of Ghetto Gastro, and the Met’s Abraham Thomas, to name but a few. Food came courtesy of Jen Monroe of Bad Taste, who mapped an abstracted New York City grid across the ten-foot stone dining table, a cartographic terrain echoing the issue’s exploration of how domestic rituals shape their own architectures.
