OANA STĂNESCU

by Emmanuel Olunkwa

A Romanian-born architect and educator, who divides her time between Berlin and New York, Oana Stănescu explores alternative modes of architectural practice in both her design and teaching, like her Harvard GSD seminar, Non-professional, which challenges institutionalized preconceptions of professionalism. In addition to design projects with wide a variety of clients — including Coachella, ERL, Fool’s Gold, Off-White, and Kanye West —, Stănescu is currently finishing her first house in rural Canada. Fluent in three languages, she likes to type letters to new clients on a vintage Olivetti.
