PIN–UP AND SHUI TEAM UP FOR A WET RELEASE PARTY

The downtown crowd got wet and wild this spring, May 2017, with a late night fête celebrating the launch of PIN–UP’s 22nd issue together with S H U I, a queer bathhouse and art spa coming soon to Chinatown. Inspired by S H U I founders Jon Wang and Sean Roland's futuristic vision of wellness — which they expound upon in the newest issue of the mag — the party embraced a spirit of restorative leisure with an aromatherapeutic mistifiers and live massages performed by CMT Tomek.

Tucked away in Mr. Wu's Basement in the heart of Chinatown, guests explored the soothing benefits of dance, promenading to tunes played by DJs Dese, Nar, Lafawndah, and Nick Weiss. Hydration was a top priority. Partygoers quenched their thirst with specialty drinks courtesy of Mission Chinese and Material Vodka. Highlights of the night included spa looks designed by Gogo Graham, renowned for her eponymous line, and a live performance by Nigerian-born recording artist Khali Abdu.

Helmed by an illustrious host committee — Angela Dimayuga, Avena Gallagher, CFGNY, Chen Chen & Kai, Eternal Dragonz, Leong Leong, Stewart Uoo, Topical Cream, Xavier Cha, and Ylang Ylang — the event brought out a healthy mix of art, architecture, and style luminaries. The party wore on into the early hours of the morning, rejuvenating revelers with a much needed evening of rest, relaxation, and raging.
